I made this for breakfast this morning. We had seven bananas, so
I decided to use them in a smoothie. This smoothie is packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, potassium, protein, and provides you with energy. This is a perfect post-workout smoothie - and this is satisfying too.
I am a big fan of smoothies and can literally go on a smoothie fast if I could. They are so easy to make, easy to digest, easy to absorb all the fiber, and keeps your tummy feeling satisfied until your next meal. You can throw in whatever fruits with veggies inside (like spinach, kale, red beet, celery, etc.) and voila! You have a smoothie. Next time though, I will make this smoothie and add veggies. I'll keep you posted on that..... ;)
INGREDIENTS:
- 7 ripe, cheetah bananas, peeled
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk or distilled water
- Heaping handfuls raisins or 1 packet of SweetLeaf stevia or 1 tsp raw stevia powder
- 1/4 tsp ceylon cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
Place all ingredients in the blender. Blend until creamy and smooth. Pour into a glass and DRINK.

I tried your smoothie.....it was delicious! Love your blog. I have been thinking about trying raw vegan for a while now,but have been hesitant because I thought it would be expensive and difficult to stick to. Any suggestions for new starters? Thanks a bunch!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Glad you thought it was delicious! I appreciate your feedback, thank you!
DeleteDon't be hesitant. This lifestyle is really awesome and inexpensive, once you know how to shop. Once you get the hang of it, this lifestyle becomes so easy (too easy, if you ask me!) to stick to.
My advice to you is:
1.) Eat lots of fresh raw fruits (make sure your produce are organic and GMO-free) and vegetables.
2.) Keep nuts and seeds in moderation. Keep your diet low-fat as much as possible, especially when transitioning.
3.) Buy in bulk. Foods are way cheaper when you buy in bulk.
4.) Incorporate smoothies and juices daily, as both are very important for optimal health. Also, buy local.
5.) Have fun in the kitchen, too. Don't make it stressful, this lifestyle is too much fun! This lifestyle is so awesome to not enjoy every moment of it.
6.) Set out specific goals for yourself to help motivate and inspire you to achieve them. Exercise daily, too.
7.) At night time, have a big bowl of delicious salad! Make sure you eat enough fruits during the day, so at night time you’re aren’t hungry. Don't deprive/starve yourself. The more fruits you eat, the more you'll lose weight.
8.) Don’t eat 3-4 hours before you go to bed.
9.) Don’t worry about calorie counting and calorie restrictions. Eat as much low-fat fruits and vegetables.
10.) Eat/make foods that you love! If you love pizza, make a raw vegan version, it's way more healthier and tastier. Find recipes online (and on my blog) that you like. Remember, the most simplistic recipes are the best ones! They're very delicious! Also, eat foods that make you look and feel good. If eating corn makes you feel awful, avoid it from your diet and simply don't eat it. If you find yourself getting bored with your eats, eat something new, exciting and delicious. Like I said, find/search for recipes that you like/"crave" and make it.
11.) Make sure to eat/choose/buy variety. If you're one that gets bored easily with food, having variations/variety is very important to succeeding on this lifestyle.
On this lifestyle, there are TONS of delicious and healthy substitutes and recipes to make, you should never get bored with your food.
I would suggest taking a look through my "resources" tab. I have a categories filled with educational, inspiring and every informative links that I feel may help, especially those who are looking to transition into this lifestyle: http://rawveganliving.blogspot.com/p/resources.html
The first two foods I suggest you begin to eliminate from your diet, are dairy and fish. Dairy is the dirtiest liquid (it is worse than meat!) and fish is the dirtiest meat!
Hope these suggestion/tips helped you a lot! If you have any more questions, please let me know. Thank you! Good luck on your journey! :)
All the best,
Miliany Bonet
I cannot find almond milk here at my place. Can I substitute it with skim milk or soya milk?
ReplyDeleteYou can substitute the almond milk with filtered water, it's best. I don't recommend skim/dairy milk or soy milk, because it's not healthy and optimal. I would recommend making your own nut or seed milk at home. Most of the store bought brands are highly processed, contains sometime of artificial ingredient to preserve freshness, and contains carcinogenic ingredients. Check out my post on how to make homemade nut or seed milk: http://1rawvegan.com/homemade-nut-or-seed-milk-diy-nut-milk-bags/
DeleteEnjoy the smoothie!
